Welcome to the Kincaid Manor blog. It truly means a lot that you would take a few minutes out of your day to read along. My hope is that what you find here is not only helpful, but something you genuinely enjoy.

I want to begin by sharing a little about Kincaid Manor and the heart behind it.

Our desire in creating this venue has always been simple: to bless and serve our couples and their guests well. From the moment you arrive, we hope you feel it—that sense of peace, warmth, and joy. A place where you can breathe, be present, and truly soak in every moment.

Nestled on 16 acres just half a mile from the interstate, Kincaid Manor offers a quiet, tucked-away feel without being far from anything. We’re conveniently located for couples and guests coming from North Mississippi, East Mississippi, Memphis, Collierville, and even Arkansas—yet when you’re here, it feels like you’ve stepped away from the noise of everyday life.

Our chapel is often what people remember most. With its beautiful wall of windows and natural light, it creates an intimate setting where every ceremony feels meaningful and personal. While it’s cozy in feel, it comfortably seats up to 150 guests. And for those dreaming of an outdoor ceremony, we offer a stunning space outside—along with a thoughtful backup plan, so weather never has to bring stress into your day.

When it comes to your reception, there’s room to truly enjoy the celebration. From the deck to the covered patio, from gathering around the fire pit to celebrating inside our reception hall—also surrounded by windows—you and your guests have space to move, connect, and make memories. No matter the season or the weather, there’s always a way to create a beautiful indoor/outdoor experience.

One of the most special parts of the day comes after the celebration winds down. Instead of rushing off, our couples have the option to stay onsite in our Honeymoon Suite. There’s something so meaningful about lingering just a little longer—sitting together on the screened porch, overlooking the place where your day unfolded, and letting it all sink in. It slows everything down in the best way and allows your first night as husband and wife to feel just as intentional as the rest of your day.

As a family-owned business, we are thoughtful and intentional in everything we do. We’re always looking for ways to serve our couples better. We just added a lodging option in April 2026 and now one of the things we’re especially excited about is our newest addition—Groom’s Garage—which we’re planning to have ready in Fall 2026.

Creating a beautiful experience while still offering great value is always a priority for us.

We’ve been incredibly blessed to host over 250 weddings so far, and at any given time, we’re walking alongside around 50 couples as they plan their big day. Key Questions to ask when looking for a wedding venue

This post is going to cover some key questions you need to ask when looking for a wedding venue. As a wedding venue owner, with the experience of 260 weddings in less than 5 years, I have seen a lot! Because you have ONE shot to get this right and may not even know all the questions you will need to ask yourself, it is important to find a wedding venue that has an owner with experience and tips/suggestions to share.

First of all, what things matter most to you on wedding day? Getting married, of course, is the most important thing, but, besides that, what matters to you? Is it the place? People? Pictures? Party? Food? Flowers? Music? Bar? etc. Only you two can answer this question and the venue you choose could play a role in how you answer this.

Every couple has a pocket of money to spend on their wedding. Some have a large amount while others don’t. When our daughter got married, we didn’t have a fortune to spend on her wedding but we wanted it to be beautiful, special, and all that she dreamed it would be. Because of that, we had to be strategic in searching for a venue.

Some venues have a preferred (or required) vendor list. If this is the case, the venue is somewhat dictating how much money you will have to spend on each of the categories that matter to you. If food is down on your list of what matters most to you but you go with a venue that requires you to pick one of three caterers, then you are not in control of how much you spend on your food. Same for each category. Some venues require real florals. If flowers aren’t a big deal to you, you could save tons of money by renting flowers or using artificial or wooden ones. Therefore, make sure you are clear on what is required for picking vendors when you go to choose a venue.

At Kincaid Manor, we have some overarching guidelines for food, for example, but it leaves rooms for you to put as much or as little of your money towards food. We allow you to pick your vendors and this frees you up to personalize and prioritize the things that matter most to you!

Do you plan to have alcohol served at your wedding reception? If so, make sure you are aware of the bar policy of the venue you choose. Some venues have their liquor license so they provide the alcohol and upcharge you for it. You could spend as much on a bar as you do on the venue if you aren’t careful. Every venue is going to have their specific guidelines for alcohol. It is the area that carries the most risk for you as the couple, the venue, the bartender, and everyone else involved. Be wise on this topic! Remember that you want everyone to have a good time, but you want them to also make it home safely.

What is the rain contingency? No one wants it to rain on their wedding day, but it is definitely something we are not in control of. So, what is the set up for the venue in case of rain? If you were planning an outdoor wedding, is the backup indoor option pretty? What about your guests moving from the ceremony space to the reception space? Do they have to walk from one building to another where they will get wet on the way or is everything set up in such a way as to keep them dry moving from one space to another? This doesn’t have to be what you dwell on the most, but at least ask about it or look at the layout just in case.

Is the venue rental a “turn-key” situation or will there be a venue manager onsite? It may seem fun to just get a key and have the place to yourself, but what if something happens and you need help immediately? You might want to consider looking for a venue that provides someone who will be onsite. You never know when a toilet might get clogged or a circuit breaker might trip. What if the electricity goes out? Does the venue have a full generator that will allow the day to continue as planned or will it be dark, hot (or cold), quiet with no way to have music, etc.This is definitely something you will want to ask about.

Planning a wedding takes time, effort, money, and energy. Ask to see if the venue has any tools to help you in the planning process. Do you have access to the venue throughout your planning? Does the venue do the set up or is that your responsibility? Do you have anyone to talk to when you think of questions? If there is decor to borrow, how often can you see it and play with it on the tables to make sure you know exactly what you are borrowing and what you need to buy? The more access you have to the venue and a knowledgeable venue owner, the smoother the planning process will be.

Is the venue a blank slate or is it beautiful in its own right? A blank slate seems fun to have until you start adding up how much it will cost to make it beautiful. If that is where you want to spend your money, great! Look for a blank slate venue. However, if decorations isn’t where you want to dump a large part of your budget, look for a venue that is beautiful without adding anything or very much. You want to be able to personalize the space, but you might not want to have to start from scratch.

Are there beautiful places for pictures? Most couples want great pictures to help them remember this most important day. What type of backdrop do you love for pictures? Is nature what you want or do you love antebellum homes? Do you want cars in the background of all your pictures or do you want gorgeous places away from the parking lot? As you tour venues, look to see if there are picture places you’d love.

Will you and your guests be confined to one space or are there several places for your guests to congregate? Does that matter to you? Some venues are one building with limited or no windows. Some are a big ballroom where everything takes place there. Others are an old antebellum home and there are lots of little rooms where people will be gathering without all being together. There is no right answer here! The beauty of the venue market is that you can find what you love. There are lots of choices out there. You just need to think through this question as you are looking and imagining your wedding day.
